As I write this I am listening to the great new CD by Albert Rivera, Back at IT. I have enjoyed his work for some time and it is wonderful to see him put out another excellent album. There is a lot of driving funky jazz. Albert is from the New York area but his music would feel right at home in New Orleans with such numbers as Forty Two Point 195 and He Said She Said that make you want to move. There is also the soulful ballads, Distance of Your Smile and You Said What, to round things out. There is also a solid tribute to Eric Gardner. You can get a copy of the work at Albert Rivera’s web site.
Here is are posts I did on two prior albums, Albert Rivera’s new CD – Inner Peace and Albert Rivera’s new CD – Hope and Faith. Albert mostly plays in the northeast. He was recently at highly regarded Litchfield Jazz Festival, an event I have been to several times in the past. I first leaned about Albert and his music through my blog, writing about the festival.
