In late August I went to Camden Maine for five nights and was impressed by the many good food options right on the harbor or within a few blocks. It is a walk to everything place. Here are some we sampled.
Camden Deli - 37 Main St. Camden, ME 04843 (207) 236-8343. We had a great lunch here with a view of the harbor (see below - lobster roll and chowder). Looking back up the waterfall the white building with the tall windows is the deli and the view out of those windows is in the right side of the first row of pcitures. We also had an excellent breakfast on the morning of Irene to have a view of the harbor during the storm. Camden only had some heavy rain and the winds were not intense.
40 Paper - 40 Washington Street Camden, ME 207.230.0111 was our first dinner spot. It provides excellent modern Italian cuisine. We had a wonderful frito misto for starters and then a lobster and mushroom pasta as well as a roast guinea hen.
Paolina’s Way - Public Landing, Camden (207) 230 0555 provided our next dinner after a sunset sail. We ate outdoors near the dock. This place seems best for their pizza that looked good.
Atlantica - 9 Bayview Landing Camden 207-236-6011 provided our next dinner. We ate outdoors and dockside and had some of the best food of the trip. The oysters were excellent as was the fish chowder with fennel, halibut and crab cakes.
Cappy’s Chowder House Main St. Camden - 207-236-2254 provided dinner the day of the storm Irene. It was our original destination for the night and turned out to be the only place open for dinner in town becasue of Irene. We sat at the bar and had some of the best onion rings I have had anywhere. The fried fish was also good, as was the sundae.
Boyton Mckay Food Co. Main St. Camden 207-236-2465 provided us a fine lunch and breakfast. Good chowder and quesadillas, along with excellent donuts.
Peter Ott’s Steakhouse - 16 Bayview St. Camden - (207) 236-4032 provided our last dinner as a change of pace from seafood. They focus on local food and have very competent steaks, salads, and some seafood also. It is seen on the left along with the Harbor Dogs and a down home place.
