I heard about a useful survey recently, the 6th annual Intranet-Digital Workplace Trends survey. So far 200 enterprises around the world have taken it. However, it is open through August and the more the better, in terms of useful results.
Key topics covered in this year's "Intranet-Digital Workplace Trends" survey are: Mobile Strategies & Approaches, Collaborative & Social Aspects, Search, Governance & Management, Business Value, and Future Scenarios.
Here are some of the preliminary findings:
- 30 percent say their organizations have a "networking culture" and about 30 percent say they don't!
- 20 percent of the organizations encourage their people to participate in external social networking platforms; 10 percent discourage their employees from doing this.
- Social networking exists "enterprise wide" in 10 percent of these companies and "in some parts" in another 15 percent. Last year the "enterprise wide" deployment was at 9 percent and "in some parts" at 6 percent.
So you can see that there is more interest and experimentation, but that full scale adoption is happening slowly. The survey takes about 40 minutes to complete, and can be done in short sessions. All participants get a free copy of "Digital Workplace Trends 2012" which will be offered for sale to non-participants at the end of October.
Here is where you can take the survey.
