I have been listening to Albert Rivera’s new CD – Inner Peace with great enjoyment. He was kind to send me a copy. I wrote about a prior work (see Albert Rivera’s new CD – Hope and Faith). I first leaned about Albert and his music through my blog, writing about the Litchfield Jazz Festival. Albert was the Assistant Musical Director there and he contacted me after I did a post on the event. He was kind enough to send me this new CD with no obligation to review it but since I think is a very nice set, I want to mention this work.
There is a nice variety with ballads (While You Were Gone, The First Time We Said Hello, Inner Peace) and more progressive works (Keeping A Balance, From All Angles, Excalibur, It Always Comes Back To This). Bronx based Rivera provides a meaningful Remembrance (9/11 Tribute). It is a set that I can listen to many times and provides a nice background as I work on my blog now.
In this work the personnel include: Albert Rivera (Saxophones), Luques Curtis (Bass), Zaccai Curtis (Piano), Nick Roseboro (Trumpet), Jean Caze (Trumpet), Nathan Jolley (Drums), John Iannuzzi (Drums), Beck Burger (Hammond B3), Mark Whitfield (Guitar). I highly recommend it. You can buy it at his site, Albert Rivera.
