I want to share with you a new blog that I am participating in, the Darwin Discovery Engine Blog. I have been working with Darwin Ecosystem for several years in an advisory role as we work in relative quiet to get to the Alpha release phase. In August we we begin to be more public and launched this blog. I hope you will visit it and become a subscriber.
Through this blog we want to encourage discussion about gaining greater understanding of what is occurring in the world and within the enterprise through looking at the patterns occurring in Web-based content. The Web is constantly generating vast amounts of new content and Web 2.0 adds layers of useful social information. Likewise, the introduction of Web 2.0 social media into the enterprise creates large amounts of potentially useful information about the social side of business processes. The key is gaining awareness and access to this social intelligence. Here are some sample commentary posts, Webcom 09 - The Misplaced Fear of the Mainstream Media, Wall Street Journal on Building and Monitoring Online Communities, and A New Age of Communication-Centric Collaboration.
We assume that the content overload on the Web, and even within the enterprise, has grown to chaos so we do not use metrics such as popularity to find useful content. Instead we use correlation metrics based on Chaos Theory to unlock the relationships between content on the web. We have woven the work of Edward Lorenz into our logo through the mathematical representation of the Chaos' theory attractor. Among other things it makes spam to gain a recognition advantage virtually impossible. Our awareness engine gives users the ability to perceive and be conscious of events and patterns of activities captured in the enterprise and Web 2.0 (see our Darwin Ecosystem web site).
Our company is bi-lingual and we post in French as well as English. Here are some recent posts written in French: Prendre le Pouls 2.0 du succes and Peut-on tirer du sens des micro-blogs? We are also on Twitter at @darwineco and we post our favorite tweets on the blog (see for example, Our Favorite Tweets for October 1 - 14 2009 from @darwineco).
While we often cover our efforts at Darwin, this blog is open to the broader discussion of all aspects of gaining insight on Web-based content and how it can change an organization. We will also offer our perspectives on industry events and market news. Our goal is to help build a more transparent enterprise and obtain greater value from the Web, changing both how people work and the way they can better work together. We want to hear from you and welcome your comments, stories, and questions. We encourage you to browse our categories and not just look at our latest content. The categories contain the archives of our past posts. We hope that many of these posts remain useful as we will discuss issues and not simply provide current news. Also use our search field.
Often good blog content gets buried as it moves off the front You can find the profiles of our bloggers in the left side column. They include Thierry Hubert - Founder & President, Frederic Deriot - Founder & CEO, myself, Bill Ives, VP Social Media, and Peter Mularien - Senior Architect. Links to our twitter feeds are also there. If you like what you find here please join the conversation through our comment fields. Our blog will allow us to learn of your comments regardless of when the original post was published. We look forward to hearing from your perspectives. We want to learn from you and we look forward to your participation.
