First there was the Tale of Two English Breakfasts and then there was the Tale of Two Eggs Benedict in Quebec. Recently, I was back in the Amherst, MA, the scene of yesterday's post. My friend Don Lesser and I stopped at Elmer's Store in Ashfield on the way to art exhibit in Williamstown.
We were lucky as it was 11:45 and they were still serving breakfast. The chef, Nan Parati is from New Orleans and provides a great southern breakfast. So I could not resist her biscuits and sausage gravy with had browns. Don had the home made corn beef hash with eggs. It was made with pastrami and corn beef which Di on said gives a better hash. I tasted it and would agree. Here are the breakfasts.
Post script. Don and I went back and had two more breakfasts there on the way to visit the Clark Museuem in Williamstown. These include a traditional eggs. sausage, home fries and toast and one with cheese on the home fries. On the way back we ate at the Gypsy Apple in Shelburne Falls. Here is Don's review of the Gypsy Apple.
