It seems like all the enterprise collaboration platforms are adding more features to become a suite. Th emor eI talk to the more they are developing a similar comprehensive suite. This is not a bad thing, It validates the market an these features.
One of the key elements is the addition of micro-blogging or micro-messaging. For example see some of my App Gap reviews:
Yakabod Provides Robust Knowledge Management with a Social Side
BlogBridge Release 6.6 Integrates Twitter with Comprehensive RSS Reader Capabilities
CubeTree Releases Innovative Enterprise Collaboration Platform
Atlassian Announces Confluence 3.0
Traction Software Releases Team Page 4.1 – Better Enabling the Social Side of Work.
I am sure I missed some. At the recent Enterprise 2.0 conference a number of others announced this capability such as Central Desktop. I welcome additions to this list through comments.
Hi, Bill, you probably have noted this already, but here is SocialText's entry, "Signals"

Patti - Thanks for this addition. I knew they had one but did not know the name and the link is helpful. Bill

Cogenuity also has a micro-blogging feature. There is a "What are you doing?" text box on every page and team mates and friends see each other's micro-blogs on secondary pages in a "What's happening in your network?" box.
It's just an easy way for team members to get a sense of comradeship through what is known as ambient intimacy.
