I grew up listening to Mahalia Jackson in New Orleans as my mother was a big fan. She often talked about how Mahalia refused to sing the blues. Mahalia was born in New Orleans. I remain a fan of her music. One Sunday morning I put together this collection. Enjoy. The first two are my favorites and the ones I remember most as part of the sound track of my childhood in New Orleans. For some I could only find audio with a still image or series of images. I added a Little Richard version of my favorite at the end.
Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho
Steal Away - Mahalia Jackson & Nat King Cole
"Move On Up a Little Higher, Pt. 2" (1947) audio only
I'm On My Way (audio only)
Jesus Met The Woman At The Well (audio only)
Thank you for this . . . an incredible blessing!
