Smart Mobs posted on, Twitter helps TV viewing become social, picked up a BBC blog post, TV becomes social again, by Darren Waters. He wrote, “Last night I was watching Eurovision with Twitter running on my laptop. In real time, my Twitter friends and I shared comments and made observations about the event as it was happening. Twitter was being used to extend the experience of watching the event together, but also for people to share links to sites with backstory, or explainers etc.”
This is happening ion the US as well as Mashable wrote about how Current TV to Make Election Night a Social Experience With Twitter and Digg. Current TV also did it during the primary debates. This raises a lot of interesting possibilities. I am involved in the web start up, TVissimo. We set up a TVissimo twitter feed (http://twitter.com/TVissimo) see the post - What Are We Doing Now? – We Joined Twitter!).
We have also planning to provide a feature to our TVissimo users that allows them to send a Twitter alert to themselves or others when a show (or show with a certain actor, etc.) they selected comes into the two week advance time window.
