I recently meet with my friend Kate Ehrlich of IBM near my house at Kashish in Belmont center. In addition to discussing the IBM's new Center for Social Software, we swapped favorite breakfast places in the area. Kate provided the Watertown places below and I offered the Belmont places. Watertown Breakfast:
Tresca's Eating Place – New England diner food with breakfast as the real draw. The hours are Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Sat 6:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and, Sun 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. It is located at 25 Church Street, Watertown, MA (617) 924-9600
Spot Café – small French cafe serving a nice selection of pastries, pastas and breakfast foods, including egg dishes. There is also lunch (e.g., quiche lorraine, steak and cheese sandwich). Everything is made from scratch and buy a loaf of bread to take home. The hours are Tue-Sun 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. It is located at 385 Main Street, Watertown, MA, (617) 923-2339
Belmont Breakfast & Lunch
Aram's Café – This is a great diner and it has a blog, Aram's Café of Belmont, MA, complete with audio tracks. The blogs says – “In time, you will learn about Aram, His cafe and its subtle culinary and social treasures, And perhaps, Yourself.” The breakfast menu includes: Eggs 1, 2, 3, or 4. Served with Home Fries & Toast (Bacon, Ham, or Sausage are extra). It is located at 85 Trapelo Rd. Belmont, MA (617) 484-7354
The Select Café - The chef makes his own superb French bread daily. It is named after a well-known Parisian Cafe on Boulevard St. Germain. The food is more American bistro than French but still quite innovative. Very inexpensive for what you get. It is located at 289 Belmont Street, Belmont, MA (617) 484-2424
Belmont Lunch
Kashish – is a fine Indian place for lunch and dinner. It has both north or south Indian tastes. I have frequently met there for business lunches. It is located at 61 Leonard Street, Belmont, (617) 484-5111.
Patou Thai – is just a few doors down from Kashish. It is an excellent Thai place. Patou Thai is located at 69 Leonard Street, Belmont, 617-489-6999.
