Where to Eat in Ocean City and Biloxi, Mississippi

Here is a continuation of my restaurant picks series. Julia Welch, the daughter of a friend, Nat, is doing a year with AmeriCorps and she’s posted in Mississippi just across the bay from Biloxi working on building houses for people displaced by Katrina. I have seen this spot in person shortly before Katrina and then saw the destruction from the hurricane many times on TV. She is writing a blog, Love is an Active Verb, about her experiences with Americorps. Chef Scott's Sushi Restaurant in Ocean City. The fish should be fresh. It is located at 711 Washington Ave, Ocean Springs, (228) 872-3544

Le Bakery and Café in Biloxi- “its cheap cheap cheap, but SO good... Vietnamese and yummy. I had this amazing coconut curry chicken sandwich and mango bubble tea.” Gourmet magazine has even commented on it, noting that the “Vietnamese-run bakery and sandwich shop, (was) the de facto commissary of the relief effort. “ It is located at 280 Oak St, Biloxi (228) 436-0850

The Shed ... “it is quite honestly the best Barbeque restaurant I have every eaten at.” The Shed describes itself as a BBQ and blues joint. There is a nice photo gallery on the web site where you can submit your own photos from the place. There are pictures of a number of the blues guys and a lot of happy people. It is located at 7501 HWY 57 Ocean Springs, MS 39565. Restaurant: 228-875-9590
