I have been to Quebec many times so it was nice that business brought me there again. I discovered a new place that is worth returning and took in some favorites.
Mistral Gagnant is a Provencal restaurant located in the best shopping street in town with galleries, antique stores, and a several cooking supply places. Mistral Gagnant was recommended by a shop. It exceeded exceptions. I had what was described a beef stew with carrots, and potatoes. The plate had some nice beef with a rich http://www.saint-amour.com/ mushroom sauce, a terrine of carrots and turnips, zucchini strips with garlic, and scalloped potatoes. Each component was wonderful. It is located at 160, rue Saint-Paul, (418) 692-4260.
Saint-Amour – This is well-established upscale French restaurant, best in the Upper Old City, has won several awards. We had a nice dinner, artfully presented with multiple dimensional presentations. It is located at 48, rue Sainte-Ursule, Vieux-Québec, (Québec) Tel. 418-694-0667
L’ Echaude served us lunch on our first day. It is my favorite traditional bistro in the city. I have had many great dinners there but this was my first lunch. Just as good. The steak frites were wonderful. It is located around the corner from the Hotel Dominion on 73 Sault-au-Matelot (418) 692-1299.
Halles Petit-Cartier is a small food and shopping mall on avenue Cartier. There is a bakery, cheese market, and pastry store and much more. We stop there on our way out of town on every visit and load up for things to bring back and some more to eat on the way. It also provided a dinner on this trip. It is located at 1191 av. Cartier, 418/688-1635
