Here is a nice article, Facing Your Fear of Facebook, by Kate Evans-Correia at SearchCIO.com. She has a challenge for every CIO and IT manager: Set yourself up on Facebook. She writes:
“I challenge you because I'm convinced it's something you have to do if you ever expect to truly comprehend the power of social networking and the role it can play in the growth of your business. Until you "get it," you'll never be able to embrace what experts say is inevitable. This is the future of networking.”
This is good advice. I started my blog to better understand blogs and it continues after three and half years. I joined Facebook after getting several invitations. Now I have lots of Facebook friends, some are new. I have also learned a lot about people I already knew. I have had a number of business connections because of Facebook.
Anyone who works in technology and advises those who do should try Facebook as an easy way to understand social networking. You may or may not like it but you will have the opportunity to understand it through participant observation. Several of the enterprise 2.0 tools that I have written about recently, including CircleUp and illumio, have Facebook business applications.
An excellent article and thanks for adding me as a friend on FaceBook
