Here is upscale niche market blog advertising. The Deck is an advertising network for reaching creative, web and design professionals. It only works with blogs that only work with them. They say to their advertisers that there will not be other ads diluting theirs. There is only one ad at a time and only 15 are served per month on a rotating basis. They charge thousands (over 5 to be exact) for each 120 x 90 pixel ad on a monthly basis. At least they are well designed. They are say, “We won’t take an ad unless we have paid for and/or used the product or service.”
Google will not let me click on my own ads so it will be hard for me to make the same statement. The Deck is on the other end of the scale from Google Ads. There seems to be a place for both. Perhaps there will be an elite ad service for Web 2.0 blogs. If you hear of one let me know.
I can see this working in the design community. I did some work for the design community in the mid 80s and they were certainly used to upscale. We took the prototype for a computerized carpet (in the space) visualizer on the road for feedback. Sessions were always held in upscale hotels with designer food. Unfortunately our concept was ahead of the technology of the day even though it was well received. At least we had a great time with the orad show. The concept is commonplace now. web 2.0 marketing web 2.0
