Are there communication issues with your company? Here is a narrative workshop that might help. Understanding the stories within your organization can be a key to helping solve these issues. Here is a one day workshop that will “provide you with a set of practical skills that will enable you to design and implement projects based on the collection and interpretation of your organisation’s stories.” I have seen a number of people discuss the power of stories, Steve Denning and Dave Snowden being two of the better known and I do believe in their power. Here is the series on my KM stories and another series on the power of stories. The workshops will be held in Seattle 26-Mar-07 and Boston 29-Mar-07.
Shawn Callahan is the workshop leader. Shawn was the former knowledge-management practice leader for IBM Australia and regional leader of IBM’s Cynefin Centre. The session focuses on “collecting stories currently being told in your organisation in order to provide insight that is unavailable through traditional analytical approaches. From this basis, innovative solutions can be designed.”
If you go let me know and mention this blog to the workshop leader. He is offering a referral bonus to bloggers. This is also a disclaimer on my recommendation but I still would not recommend it if I did not think it has value for someone within an organization. It is nice of Shawn to think of bloggers. Thanks to Ross Dawson for passing this on.
