Bebo has just passed MySpace on UK traffic so they turned down a 300 million offer. That is UK pound not US dollars. Michael Arrington writes in Tech Church, “Michael (of Bebo), or his VCs, still seems to think that £300 million is way too low and are holding out for more. When asked about a sale, he said “If I sell it, I’d have to start from scratch.” Translation: “Give me a billion dollars please.” If the dollar continues to decline he can get a billion dollars at the current price.
Michael adds, “The Financial Times is reporting that the company is in acquisition talks with Viacom, the owner of MTV and other cable stations. This is the third try for Viacom, which lost out when bidding for both Myspace and Facebook (with Facebook reportedly shunning an offer of at least $750 million)..”
They are many, many community sites in the new web. This seems to be the new gold rush. It is the new dot com boom. What to know what is happening in all these community sites? Look at iQuest. It can let you know who are the major players in the conversations and how they are connected. You can see the gatekeepers, leaders, influencers, coordinators and innovators in each topic. You can better understand the evolving community.
iQuest also looks at relationships over time and provides “movies” of these communication patterns as they evolve. This allows you to see how relationships within a community change and the impact of temporal events on these relationships.
