The If tean served up this link through delicious, John Battelle owns the Internet, in which Valleywag pointed out that John Battelle owns, Federated Media Publishing, the rapidly expanding ad network. Among its properties are the following as listed by Gawker:
Boing Boing, the four-writer blog approaching 1 million pageviews a day (not much smaller than the audience of the Colbert Report)
Digg, the newer sexier Slashdot rumored to have declined a $40 million offer from Yahoo
Fark, the giant trashy amusement park of the Internet
Metafilter, incubator for trendy A-list bloggers
Newsvine, where molehills become news headlines
PopURLs, a new addition collecting popular links from Digg, Del.icio.us, and Furl
PSFK, the trend-spotting blog by coolhunting consultant Piers Fawkes
Reddit, a general-interest Digg-like site with even more instant voting gratification
So John owns PSFK which puts out the IF report which reported on John. I have written about Newsvine and digg before. They are all about participation. As the Valleywag pointed out John’s empire has ads on all these sources and as blogs posts and other web content gets bounced around these sites, he collects at every stop. It seems a different spin on a link farm. This time it is particpant driven and not artificial. Not a bad deal.
eh - "John owns PSFK?" - eh? I though he was just flogging ads for IF! We just reported an interesting story.

Piers - Please correct me if I reported the ownership wrong. I was just reporting what I read on Gawker in the article I got from you. I do not want to convey misinformation. Bill
