You can now both send out blog posts via email instead of or, in addtition, to RSS and you can also subscribe to blog updates through email. Tech Crunch recently wrote about Version 2.0 of Australia-based Zookoda, an email tool for bloggers that allows you to email posts to readers. As Tech Crunch wrote, it competes with Feedburner’s new email product.
Tech Crunch added, “Feedburner offers only a single option for email (once a day, no ability to tweak the look and feel of the email), Zookoda offers the blogger the ability to tailor nearly every aspect of the product…I like Feedburner because, frankly, I don’t want to spend a lot of time formatting templates and going through detailed reports: Feedburner’s one-size-fits-all approach is perfect for TechCrunch, and I like the fact that all of my RSS and email subscription statistics are managed in one dashboard.” I like the ease of use.
I also use Feedburner for RSS subscriptions and like the way they do their reports. I recently checked to find 202 subscribers through Feedbuner. I know there are others getting the feed through other means and it would be nice to consolidate this. But still it is nice to get reports on the majority of my RSS subscribers.
Both Feddburner and Zookoda are free. You can also subscribe to receive blog post updates through Squeet. I got the notice of the Tech Crunch blog post on Zookoda from John Maloney who forwarded to me a Squeet email with the Tech Crunch Post. I could easily click back to the original blog post. For those used to email this all may be a blessing but I like the way RSS keeps stuff out of my inbox. This is an even greater blessing for me now as I am temporiarly using web mail while I switch to a Mac.
