BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering of technology people to share and learn in an open environment. It is free but you have to participate which is a good thing. I learned about it from Jessica Baumgart of the Berkman blog group. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees. The rules tell you to bring a sleep bag so I guess it goes on and on. They have been happenng all over and there will be one in the Boston area soon.
As their Barcamp Boston wiki site says, “BarCamp (pronounced BAH-camp) is an unconference, organized on the fly by attendees, for attendees. There is no cost to come, but you can't just attend a BarCamp-- you have to participate by giving a presentation, a lightning talk, or joining into another cooperative event. For Boston BarCamp, we are expecting a turnout of around 150 people.”
The Boston Barcamp will be held at Monster Worldwide, Clocktower Place, Maynard, MA. It will start around 10am on Saturday, June 3 and end around 6pm on Sunday, June 4. If you cannot come ot ths one, you can organize your own. See their Barcamp site
Hi Bill,

If you can attend one, give it a try, they're usually very good.
