I recently did a piece for American Executive titled, Blog It, on the business uses of blogs. American Executive is a monthly magazine providing leadership information for executives. Their mission is to provide thought leadership on business issues, along with news, marketing strategies, technology updates, management concerns, global tactics, and advice on finance and legal issues. I was pleased to be part of their most recent issue. They are available on line and in print. There is also a nice article by Gene Slowinski on the need for firms to engage in more strategic alliances as a source for growth.
In this article I covered blogs as dashboards for project management and other business uses inside the firewall, blogs as marketing tools, and blogs as virtual team workspaces. The article covers how blogs help level the business playing field in two ways. First, they provide small businesses a low-cost path to a stronger market presence. Conversely, they allow large businesses to establish a more personal relationship with their customers. In addition, blogs facilitate communication and collaboration within an organization. They provide an easy means to both document and distribute current work efforts and make these efforts accessible for future teams facing similar issues. There is more.
