I was recently invited by Newstex to become one of their bloggers. They offer Content On Demand, which includes, as they write: “tailored, real-time news and commentary from thousands of branded newswires, newspapers, magazines, financial and business sources, official government feeds and weblogs. Newstex collects full-text digital news and commentary feeds, standardizes the content format, adds stock ticker symbols, people tickers and categories, and instantly delivers the result as easy-to-integrate XML or RSS newsfeeds.” I like all the extra stuff they put in.
They have also started a Blog on Demand service. Like the Content on Demand, this includes full-text blog content. But they add more stuff to it again. Newstex “processes blogs in real-time through its NewsRouter technology to automatically tag each blog post with key data such as company names, stock tickers, key executives and government officials, and detailed topical categories for distribution to downstream enterprise customers to ensure greater exposure and reach for this valuable content.” You can go to their site to see sample blog posts. Here is one from BloggingWall Street (what really moves the markets).
These value added additions seem like a good idea for the business user and I was very pleased to join. Bloggers are less likely than traditional news services to add this stuff in. Here is the press release for the Blog on Demand service. Other Newstex bloggers include Seth Godin’s Blog, Blogcritics.org (“A sinister cabal of superior bloggers on music, books, film, popular culture, technology, and politics.”), “The Conspiracy to Keep You Poor and Stupid” by Donald Luskin. Institutional Economics, and Medpundit on medical issues. I am pleased to be part of this crowd.
I also recently added Google Adsense to step up the income from my blog (see left column). I have one other advertisement for baseball tickets which I have run for a year. It just got renewed. I will be very interested to see the returns from each of these and how much blog writing can provide financially through these means. It alreayd provides enough in other ways to motivate me to continue daily posts.
There is also a Newstex Typepad blog.
Congrats Bill! Sounds like fun.
