"Brain-based learning" is educational jargon, although the idea behind it is fairly reasonable even though the label is horrible. It's basically a "do no harm" approach to learning -- brains learn naturally, so if we work to understand how they learn, we should try to design teaching methods that at the very least don't inadvertently inhibit that ability. There's a pretty simplified description here:
