Thanks to Valdis Krebs for pointing to the Visual Complexity site with a wonderful collection of network visualizations. As the site says, “VisualComplexity.com intends to be a unified resource space for anyone interested in the visualization of complex networks. The project main goal is to leverage a critical understanding of different visualization methods, across a series of disciplines, as diverse as Biology, Social Networks or the World Wide Web.”
I am struck by the art as much as the science. It is organized by categories such as art, business, knowledge, and food networks. You can click on individual pictures of networks to get much more detail such as Global Access in the Knowledge Networks. It is described as a digital workspace and research tool. A food network is the Norwegian Food Web for Humans.
