My daughter, Sarah Ives, recently sent me two updates to the Seattle restaurant picks we did after my visit at the end of October, Here are two places she has since discovered near the University of Washington, where she is a graduate student in geography. .
Chaco Canyon Café is an organic vegetarian place that specializes in raw food. They have free wi-fi. Here is a review from The Natural Choice. Chaco Canyon Café is located near the University of Washington at the Corner of 50th and Brooklyn, 4761 Brooklyn Ave NE (206)522-6966.
Flying Apron Bakery is an organic vegan bakery that is also gluten free and wheat free. I am sure there are healthy reasons to keep this stuff out and you find out why at their site. Flying Apron Bakery is located near the Chaco Canyon Café at also at the Corner of 50th and Brooklyn in the University District (206) 526 2903. In fact, the site says, “Chaco Canyon Café (our friendly neighbor) graciously encourages customers to come in with a Flying Apron pastry and have one of their many amazing juices, coffees or teas.”
The Flying Apron people also run the Elliott Bay Cafe in Pioneer Square in the book store by the same name. I went there on a rainy afternoon when I visited in October. (206) 442-1115. It had great pastries and I did not notice the absence of wheat.
Bill:
Not sure how healthy, but the last two times I have been in Seattle I have eaten at The Harvest Vine, http://thescarletmacaw.com/harvest_vine.htm. Dynamite place. 5 stars...don't miss it!

Thanks Buzz. We will go there the next time I visit my daughter. I did an earlier post on Seattle with more picks but this is a new one. Having grown up with Southern cooking in New Orleans, I see healthy as not necessary and only good on occasions.
