APQC is providing an online assessment survey to help you benchmark your organization’s knowledge management efforts. There is no charge. If you complete the following survey you get a performance report that compares your organization’s KM program to top performers and other survey respondents. As their site indicates the survey is categorized into the following sections:
1. Stage of KM Implementation – Gauge the maturity of your KM program
2. KM Program Structure and Roles – People
3. KM Costs and Budgets – Process
4. KM Program Measures and Outcomes – ROI
5. Knowledge Sharing Processes and Activities – Process
6. Content and Technology
You can preview the questions before you take the survey so you can spend time reflecting or data gathering. There is also a webinar on March 4 to describe the assessment. The survey can be done on an annual basis so you can benchmark against yourself over time. I have used their KM benchmarking materials in the past and find them quite helpful. A number of the questions are mapped to their stages of KM maturity so you place yourself on this scale.
Hi --
This is interesting. It is worth noting they have a whole portfolio of assessments.
I am suspicious on two accounts:
1.) KM is highly contextual, making benchmarking difficult/impossible.
2.) Anything free from APQC is suspect.
Other assessments may have merit, say, for Help Desk or Property Management, but for KM, I'm not so sure...
Rather, I recommend an assessment to aid in knowledge organization transformation (KOT). This is from the EU. You may review it here:

Very credible, created by open research consortia.
Contact me if you wish the online version and to understand how it is implemented.
Cordially,
John
