Technorati reported 4,077,754 weblogs watchedon September 29. But as Andy Carvin points out in the Berkman discussion group, that stat may not differentiate between blogs and any other type of site that happens to produce an RSS feed. (Not to mention people who publish more than one blog.)
Thanks to Lisa Williams to pointing to the NITLE weblog census, an attempt to find as many active weblogs as possible, across all languages. According to their site, “the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE) was established in September, 2001, through a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, to serve as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration for national liberal arts colleges as they seek to make effective use of technology.
NITLE reported 2,108,226 likely web logs on September 29. 1,286,538 seem to be in English. You can check to see if their crawler is checking yours. I checked and they have picked up mine.
