The Support Economy authors are taking the principles in their book to the next step and have set up a program to raise venture capital to support initiatives in line with the positions they take in their book. I did a brief description of their excellent book before. Its position that people today are looking for opportunities for a personal voice and a chance to make a difference supplies one explanation for part of the strong interest in blogs. John Maloney pointed me to their venture site. It says:
“The Support Economy Ventures Website is an axis for regional Investment Summits concerning the principles of The Support Economy by Shoshana Zuboff and James Maxmin. The goal is to identify entrepreneurs and advance investment for building the deep support infrastructure. The intention of Support Economy Ventures is to shape and catalyzes a community of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, deep support professionals and others wanting to benefit from the next chapter in capitalism. We envision this community collaborating to fund and build the new enterprise logic and lifeboat ventures that will lead the way to a support economy based on distributed capitalism. We invite you to donate, sponsor, join and participate with us.”
They have several investment summits coming up. One in New York on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004. It follows our first New England KM Cluster on Oct. 15 in Boston and another on Dec. 10, 2004 in San Francisco.
