Judith Meskill's “knowledge notes...” blog begins with a wonderful quote from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin:
...all abstract knowledge is only a faded reality: this is because to understand the world knowledge is not enough, you must see it, touch it, live in its presence and drink the vital heat of existence in the very heart of reality...
Kant adds the “percepts without concepts are blind” and Judith give us both. Her blog includes the following topics: autonomic computing, collaboration, haitech haiku™, knowledge economy, knowledge management, knowledge sharing, notable judiths, poetry, search engines, social intelligence, social networking, social software, technology and tools, unclassified, weblogs and blogging, etc...
I clicked on poetry first and was impressed to see that she remained on topic with “actionable sense” and “ode to a weblogger” among many others, some with links.
Next, I clicked on knowledge management and found that SEC has plans for KM and collaboration (Aug. 6). Judith wrote that Steven Marlin reports for InformationWeek--SEC Outlines Its Five-Year IT Plan. According to Steven, collaborative technologies, knowledge management, and workflow automation are all on the agenda for implementation at the SEC over the next five years.
Judith provides an excerpt:
"The plan, which was approved in July and posted on the SEC's Web site Thursday, also calls for enhancing personal productivity through automation and collaborative technologies to facilitate "workforce virtualization," deployment of knowledge-management tools that capture the expertise of staff, and Web-based forms and workflow automation tools to automate internal business processes."
Then there is the topic – Notable Judiths - where she provides notes and links to people who share her first name. Good idea.
There is much more on every topic, done with wit and insight.
