Just when it was starting to make sense, I learned about blikis. Shimon Rura provides a link to site describing, Cardboard, a combined blog and wiki tool or a “bliki” as well as a post by Martin Fowler who was not happy with blogs or wikis so he also combined them into a bliki. Martin says, “Like a blog, it allows me to post short thoughts when I have them. Like a wiki it will build up a body of cross-linked pieces that I hope will still be interesting in a year's time. I intend to use this to post ideas that are forming, but either too immature or too short for a proper article.”
Shimon also gives a link to the Wikipedia’s definition of Bliki and sample links.
“A bliki is a weblog with wiki support. Which means that after (or before) an article is posted to the blog, it can be edited, either by anyone or by some some group of authorized users. This combination of the two Internet technologies was conceived with the purpose of making the popular "blogging" experience more interactive…”
I liked the simplicity of both blogs and wikis for their respective tasks. I am not sure of the benefits of combining them. It seems like a “Swiss Army knife” solution instead of simply using the right tool for the right task. However, I am just beginning to understand the uses of blogs and wikis so I could easily be missing something here.
