I was in Mendocino during the 1987 NBA Finals. For those too young to remember it was the Celtics vs. Lakers, the last time Boston was in the Finals. I went to a local bar with a friend to watch the game. I commented to a person next to me that we would probably be the only ones there rooting for Boston, he said, “Are you kidding, This is Northern California,” seeming shocked that I would even consider this possibility. “We (dislike) (----ing) LA up here. It’s a different state.”
I was thrilled when the Celtics took out the Pistons in the 2002 playoffs but they are now my surrogate team. Here is a great site for the Bad Boys 2.
This morning a chant builds in the heartland spreading to the north coasts in both directions, “Beat LA!” "Beat LA!" "Beat LA!"
