Abigail Smith was born on Oct. 17, 1683* and died around 1747. She married Ensign Joseph Cooper in 1706. Her daughter, Thankful Cooper, married Jonathan Ives on Feb, 19, 1737. *indicates listed in Vital Records of New Haven.
Thomas Smith was born about 1634 in England. He came to East Haven and married Elizabeth Patterson from New Haven (1644-1727*) in 1662. He is listed as a Proprietor of New Haven, in the Year 1685 (NEGHSR, vol. 1, pp. 157–8). He died on Nov. 16, 1724 in New Haven. They had 12 children, all born in New Haven:
1. John, born Mar. 13, 1663/64*, died Mar. 26, 1664* in New Haven.
2. Anna, born April 1, 1665.*
3. Joseph, born 1667,* died 1713.* He married Hannah Morris (1671-) (daughter of John Morris and Hannah Bishop – see Bishop family). After he died she married Joseph Sackett on Feb. 26, 1717/8. Joseph and Hannah had eight children: John (1693*-1738), Hannah (1695*-died soon), James (1698*-died young), Hannah (1701-1776), Job (1703*-), Isreal (1705*-), Joseph (1707-1734), Jemina (1711).

5. Thomas, born Aug. 1, 1671,* died Jan 14, 1672* in New Haven.
6. Lt. Thomas, born Jan. 31, 1673,* died 1762 in North Haven. He married Sarah Dow (-1724). They had six children: Thomas (-1727), Joseph, Samuel (1702-), Dow, Benjamin, Abigail (1711-). Then he married Abigail Potter (1680-1755), the widow of Samuel Thompson. They had one child: Elizabeth.
7. Elizabeth, born June 11, 1676,* married Samuel Cooper on Nov. 15, 1699*, the brother of Joseph Cooper who married her sister Abigail – see following. Elizabeth and Samuel had nine children, all born in New Haven: Mabel (1700-1777), Timothy (1702-1725), Samuel (1704-1781), Issac (1707-), Desire (1709-), Obedience (1712-1771), Joel (1715-), Sarah (1716-1778), Abraham (1719-).
8. Joanna, born Dec. 17, 1678.*
9. Capt. Samuel, born May, 24, 1681,* died Jan. 6, 1765 in East Haven and buried in Old Cemetery. He married Anna Morris (1686-1743) on Dec. 30, 1708* and they had nine children: Patterson (1709*-1773), Abel (1711*-1790), James (1713*-1803), Benjamin (1716*-1784), Anna (1719*-1798), Thankful (1722*-1795), Sarah (1725*-1773), Daniel (1727*-1783). All were born in New Haven. Abraham served in the French and Indian War in 1760 in the Sixth Company from New Haven under Capt. Hitchcock, along with Jeremiah Ives. After Anna died Samuel married Sarah Pardee (1695-1749), the widow of John Thompson.

11. Lydia, born Mar. 24, 1685*, married Theophilus Alling on June 17, 1708. They had six children: (Gideon (1709-died young), Benjamin, Phebe, Timothy, Lydia (1720-1786), Titus.
