I received this note from David Ives who publishes the IvesCentral genealogy page. I am posting it here to reach more people. “John Wilder ([email protected] ) has been maintaining data on Ives DNA tests and information. Thanks to his efforts, we now have a solid DNA profile and "signature" for the descendants of William Ives of New Haven. BUT -- John needs male descendants of other Ives lines (who can provide their DNA data/information) to participate in this effort. This includes Ives males who are descended from the southern Timothy Ives line, from the Massachusetts Thomas Ives line, and from the New York Franklin Alexander Ives line, among others. If you fit into one of these categories, or know someone who does, please contact John at the noted e-mail address above. I do not.
I am not sure if my father is apart of this Ives family but what I do know is he was born on 01/01//1963 in New York his name is JAMES EDWARD IVES, father is James Ives mother is Ruth Ann Settles of New York, also the important part is that (I HAVE HIS HAIR ) I am very curious where I come from and what I decendent I am. If this sounds familiar I would appreciate staying in contact. Let me know,
Thank you - Best wishes
Danielle

Dear Danielle,
I haven't been able to trace your ancestry from the information you provided; is there any information on your father's grandparents? Many thanks.

Hi
Is this still active?
I'm a descendant of the Thomas Ives who was born in 1648 in England and who died in Salem, Mass in 1695.

Thanks for your input. As far as I know, the Ives who moved to Salem MA and not related to the William Ives who first moved to Cambridge, MA in 1635 and on to New Haven CT in 1638. At least they are not related in America. I looked into this as I used to live in Lynn and Marblehead. I am related to Nathaniel Turner who was the first Sheriff of Essex County and lived in Lynn before moving to New Haven in 1638. . His daughter married William Ives son.
