Thomas Humiston was the son of Henry Humiston (1626 - 1663). He was born on Oct. 19, 1656* in New Haven. He first married Elizabeth Sanford (1671-before 1705) on May 31, 1694. In Dec.1680, Thomas received 12 ¾ acres in the third division of land in New Haven. He served in the King Philips War in 1675 with his brothers, Samuel and John. He is listed as a Proprietor of New Haven, CT, in the Year 1685 (NEGHSR, vol. 1, pp. 157–8). He died in 1715. He and Elizabeth had three children, all born in New Haven:
1. Ebenezer, born Mar. 14, 1694*, died Oct. 7, 1769 in New Haven. Married Grace Blakesle (1693/94*-) on Oct. 18, 1718* and they had five children: Lydia (1720*-), Ebenezer (1722*-), Daniel (1727*-1798), Nathaniel (1730*-1793), and Desire (1733*-).
2. Elizabeth, born about 1697, died May 3, 1740 in New Haven. Married Samuel Bassett (1686-1744) on Dec. 17, 1723.* She was his second wife. He and his first wife, Mary Hitchcock (1692-1721), had five children from 1711 to 1721. Mary died in child birth with her fifth child, Thankful, who survived and later married. Elizabeth and Samuel had three children, all born in New Haven: Lois (1724-1799), Samuel (1728-1799), David (1730-1758),
3. Thomas, born on May 3, 1699 and died on Oct. 7, 1743. He married Mary Bishop (1698-1783) on Jan 16, 1722* and they had 8 children: Mary (1723-1746/47),Thomas (1725-1802), James (1727-1812), Elizabeth (1730*-1731*), Elizabeth (twin) (1732*, died young), Esther (twin) (1732* -1774), Joy (1735* -1790), Ruth (1738-1743.
Next, Thomas married Esther (or Hestor) Botsford (1668-), the widow of John Howe, by 1705. She was born on Oct. 18, 1668 in Milford, CT. Thomas and Esther one child:
1. Joseph, born on Nov. 14, 1705 and died on May 22, 1776 in New Haven Co. Married Anna Sperry (1711-1781) on May 27, 1734. They had three children: Esther (1735-), Anna (1739-1814), Joseph (1744-1795).
