Now that I moved to New Orleans, I have discovered that there are free festivals almost every weekend with music, food and art vendors. Here are highlights of the 4th Annual Magazine Street Blues Festival that was held last weekend on Saturday November 17. It was sponsored by and benefiting COPS 2, a group that supports the Second District Police District. Tomorrw I will be reporting on the Oak Street Poboy Festival that was held the next day.
Music and dance included the: Marc Stone Blues Band, Soul Rebels – brass dance,Pussyfooters – dancers in pink, Wiseguys – 70s and 80s cover dance band, 610 Stompers – dancers in red jackets, and Rockin Doopsie and the Zydeco Twisters. All were great and it was a nice mix of musical styles. We ate the following from Woody’s Tacos – Shrimp, fish, and pork and from the Praline Connection - chicken wings and beignets and gumbo. The food and music was great. You can see things in order of appearance below.
