I have written about the Lower Ninth Ward before – see Images of New Orleans Neighborhoods Part Seventeen: Lower Ninth Ward in 2010 and in 2006 - New Orleans Update Part One: the Paradox of Two Cities. I went back in May 2012 and saw some progress for the first time. There is still a lot of work to do but some rebuilding has occurred. Below are photos from this trip including the modern houses build through the foundation that Brad Pitt set up as wel as the area near the levee that was not so damaged as the rest.
Is this one of the wards where the flooding took such an awful toll? If so, it looks like it's snapped back quite nicely.

Mick - I was showing just the rebuilt part and the small part that was not hit as hard. There are still blocks of abandoned destroyed homes. But progress has been made as it was all like that after the storm.
