I recently went back to my hometown, New Orleans for five days. Here is the first is a series of images from that trip, the Audubon neighborhood which includes the Audubon Zoo and Tulane University and falls between Jefferson Ave. on the east and Lowerline Street on the West. Most of these pictures were taken near the restaurant, Patois, on Laurel Street near the zoo and images of that restaurant are included. We ate both lunch and dinner there and it was our favorite place during the trip that included a lot of wonderful meals. The dish you see is a potato gnocchi with crawfish. If you have one meal in New Orleans and want new school food go here. If you want traditional go to Willie Mae's Scotch Housein Treme which I cover in an upcoming post. There is so much good food here.
Here is a summary of images from my last trip in January 2010 when I provided a more extensive coverage of New Orleans neighborhoods.
It's always good to get dining advice from the locals. Dang! Those gnocchi's look delicious.
