This is an 18" x 24" acrylic painting of the old train depot at Crawford Notch, New Hampshire. No longer used for trains, it serves as an information center near the Appalachian Mountain Club's Highland Center in Crawford Notch New Hampshire. Like the painting of the bunk house I posted yesterday, I simplified the scene to contrast the geometric structure of the building and the flowing nature of the mountains. I also focused on the relationships of tone and color in the different objects with the strong atmospheric perspective present due to haze and sun shine. This was painted over several days while directly viewing the scene through an upper story window at the Highland Center.
