I wrote about the Tim Rosa Associates Technical and Business Writing Blog a few days ago. Here is another useful post on which information sources produce best results? Tim covered a survey which asked “In the past three months, which of the following information sources have you looked to for information on a new product or technology that your company is potentially going to acquire or implement?” yielded these top four results: Search Engines—66%, IT Publishers – Websites—58%, IT Vendor Websites—50%, IT Newsletters—41%. I am actually surprised that the vendor sites scored so high. This must be good news to the vendors. However, search engines remain king so that is good news for those investing in their business blogs to reach potential buyers. There is more in Tim’s post. Now comes the rare commercial on this blog, if you need help with your business blog and its ability to speak the language of search engines, send me an email. End of commercial☺
In a related article, Forrester’s Oliver Young recently did a report on The Web 2.0 Buyer Profile: 2008. It predicts that IT departments will begin embracing Web 2.0 technology. At least half of the 42% who are not seeing it on their priority agenda will do so by the year end. So it is important to reach these people.
