Dorothy Leonard of the Harvard Business School will talk on, ‘Deep Smarts: The Engine of Every Organization” on Thursday, October 20, 2005, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Boston area KM Forum. As the description says, “Every day, managers see business wisdom walk out the door or allow it to be lost through ineffective knowledge transfer practices. Prof. Leonard will discuss why some forms of expertise are difficult to capture and why we need to understand the way our brain works in order to fashion programs for developing and transferring critical knowledge.”
This sounds good and I plan to attend. Dorothy is the author of: Deep Smarts: How to Cultivate and Transfer Enduring Business Wisdom, with Walter Swap (Harvard Business School Press, 2004). Registration and program information can be found at the KM Forum site.

Deep smarts is interesting but her earlier book "Wellsprings of knowledge" 1995? is a classic.
Think core rigidities, creative abrasion, prototyping, learning from your markets, inquiry research and more...
