Phenomenon: Your Blog or Mine? – Jeffrey Rosen

The New York Times had an article, Phenomenon: Your Blog or Mine?, on the 19th on the “first sex scandal in the blogosphere which ended in a lucrative book deal for the blogger, Jessica Cutler. Rosen writes, “In May, Ana Marie Cox, the Internet gossip whose Web log, Wonkette, focuses on Washington, published a link to another blogger who called herself the Washingtonienne...”

To the writer’s credit, he acknowledges that “there are as many different kinds of blogs as there are human impulses -- sex blogs, dating blogs, political blogs, technology blogs and music blog.” Usually the traditional press just lumps all bloggers together.

The author asks many other bloggers if Jessica violated the informal code of blogging honor with her revelations. Many of the bloggers he talked to thought so. He quoted another gossip blogger, the Warrior Princess, ''I would never reveal the identity of a date -- it violates the honor among bloggers, which resembles honor among thieves.''

Readers of my blog will never have to worry about such issues, sex scandals will not be revealed.
