Jessica Baumgart on Google Answers

I recently wrote briefly on Google Answers, a pay by answer service that Google provides. The service only finds existing answers without any commentary of the value of these definitions, which is all that can be expected for the small amount they charge. I felt that the ones they found for “knowledge management” were a bit superficial, but reflected some of the misconceptions in the market.

Jessica Baumgart goes into great detail on Google Answers. Jessica provides her commentary from her perspective as a professional librarian. She writes, “I'm not sure what kind of resources Google Answers' people use or have access to. I probably would not begin this search on the Internet and may not use the Internet except to learn if (and if so, how) (the example used) deals with this rumor on their Web site, another biased source that may not have the complete, honest story.” I agree. Google answers finds what is on the web, which can be useful but not necessarily accurate or comprehensive.
