Oklahoma Wine News – the Blog

Here is another of the Small Business Trends power blogs. The topic is near to home for me as I was born in Oklahoma and my grandparents migrated there around 1900 before it was a state. I also like wine but never put Oklahoma and wine making in the same sentence before.

The blog is run by the Nuyaka Creek Winery, and promotes the winemaking industry in northeastern Oklahoma. "Oklahoma state wine industry news and vineyard events…site includes online archive of winery newsletters, festival dates, recipes, trivia, grape growing info, etc."

It contains good information on the business of running a winery and growing grapes. There is also a reference to the Oklahoma Grape Growers and Wine Makers site that covers the region. Many of these vineyards are near the site of my grandparents’ farm. My grandfather was a country doctor but never made much money as his patients had little to pay him with. My grandmother ran the farm to support the family. While there were some orchards, she did not grow grapes.

Oklahoma wine - wonders never cease.
