Connecting Through Blogs
Last Friday, I spoke at the New England KM Cluster on the potential of blogs for learning and knowledge management. One example I gave for the enriched context that blogs offer to content was the virtual connection I recently established with Dina Mehta who has a very interesting blog, Conversations with Dina. It has been the source of several of my posts. Here is the one I used at my Friday talk. I had also used this example at a Berkman blog meeting
On Monday I got an email from Dina saying that she was in the Boston for a few days and wanted to get together. We had lunch in Harvard Square on Tuesday and discussed a number of common topics, some of which we will continue to dialog on. I now have a post script to the story I told on Friday at KM Cluster.
It gets better. Dina said that Judith Meskill was in town and was meeting her after our lunch. Judith joined us. I have great respect for the blogs of both of these consultants and this was a real treat. Judith and I also discussed some things we might do together and we are making further introductions for each of us. The network grows.
I have also recently been talking with Anne Stanton and Susan Bradley, consultants and prolific bloggers in the Microsoft small business server area. They have experienced this same rich context for connections that blogs offer and shared a number of examples like the one above.
